| Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this service exist? All too often, seeking out the answer to a sexual question or concern is an expensive, time consuming and difficult process. This service exists to help you get the answers and help you need, from the leading experts in the field, in the privacy of your own home, at your convenience, and at highly reasonable rates. Of course, no service of this kind can replace individual sex therapy or medical treatment, but for many concerns, a simple one time consultation is sufficient. Should you require more extensive help, we will provide a referral free of charge. Back to Top
What kind of questions can I ask? Some possible areas of inquiry are: sexual problems and dysfunctions (e.g. orgasm difficulties, premature ejaculation, erectile problems, etc.), couple concerns, gay/lesbian/bisexual/coming out issues, sexual enhancement techniques, factual questions, requests for referrals, relationship problems, health concerns, contraception and safer sex questions, relationships and communication. Basically, any question having to do with sexuality is appropriate. If you are not sure whether you have a valid question, submit it, and if we cannot help you, we will refer you to someone who can - free of charge. Back to Top
How is this service different?Although there are other "advice" services available on the Internet, ours is unique in several ways: we have the leading experts in the field to answer your questions; we are specialized to provide answers only in regard to sexuality; unlike "submit your question" type services, your question and answer will not be posted for all the world to see; and, unlike "advice columns," you are guaranteed to get a reply to your question (within a few days at most). Responses average 1000 words in length, but are frequently even more extensive, and are never less than 300 words. We are truly the only service of this kind currently available. Back to Top
How is my privacy assured? All of our consultants, as professional therapists, are ethically and legally bound to maintain strictest confidentiality in accordance with the guidelines of the American Psychological Association. Your name will never be sold or used for marketing, promotional, or any other purposes. If paying by credit card, billing is handled by an automated, secure server. You need not send us your name, address, or even phone number if you do not wish to -- all we need is your email address and your question. All charges are billed discretely to your credit card with no indication of "Sex Therapy Online." The billing department never sees your question, and the therapist never sees your billing information. If paying via Web900, we never see your identifying or your charge information. Any and all identifying information is always destroyed after your question is answered. Back to Top
Isn't it risky sending credit card information over the Internet? No. Sending credit card information over the Internet is no more risky than giving your information over the phone - which people do all the time. In a recent article by Rob Pegoraro in The Washington Post, spokespeople for MasterCard International and AT&T's Universal Card acknowledged that to date, they knew of no cases of Internet credit card fraud. "Statistically, it's much safer to use your credit card on the Web than to use it in a restaurant or department store." All of your information is encrypted in route, and then destroyed once billing is approved. In addition, our Web900 service allows you to pay via your phone bill, thus completely eliminating the need to submit any credit card information. If you still have concerns, please send an e-mail to billing@sexology.com to discuss alternate billing arrangements. Back to Top
